Key Underwriting Considerations
- The more portable the equipment, the greater the rate
- Age of equipment is an important factor (typically no older than 10 years; 15 years is the usual maximum)
- Type of work performed is closely reviewed
- Where equipment is owned, the level of outstanding mortgage matters. Underwriters prefer the insured to carry at least a 25% interest
