Our Facilities

Harman Kemp has a number of ways it can place commercial property business:

  • In-House Binding Authorities: We hold in-house authority, entrusted by certain Lloyd's underwriters, to consider business on their behalf for limits over USD3,000,000.
  • Additional Facilities: HK also has a number of facilities which can be utilised alongside its binding authorities, substantially increasing the total limit to over USD8,000,000.
  • Open Market: Our brokers have relationships with key open market underwriters, enabling us to consider risks that are more unusual in terms of location, exposure, or risk size.

Wordings and Forms

For standard property perils we tend to use ISO wordings (special form, broad form, or basic form). For other perils such as Earthquake, Flood, or Monoline Wind/Hail, London forms are used. Where a risk is more unusual, individual wordings can be tailored to suit. We will specify all relevant wordings, forms, clauses and conditions with every firm quote.

Service

To be successful in gaining new business, we believe that service is of the utmost importance, not just in gaining initial terms from underwriters but also with all documentation that may follow. We aim to respond to every submission within 24 hours. The quality of information received (including any target terms) with an initial enquiry determines our ability to respond with complete terms in a timely fashion.

We will generally be able to work with a completed ACORD application form; however, certain classes of business require more specific underwriting information. Please check our list of applications to ensure you supply the information we need.
